Discounts for bulk submissions

Posted by Simon in Directories

I often get enquiries about discounts for bulk-submissions to my directories (domaining.in, 9ug & iWebDirectory). If you are interested in submitting more than 20 URLs then I can offer a 20% discount (please be aware that all submissions are still subject to our rigorous review process). You just need to supply a spreadsheet containing all the site details (title, URL, description, suggested category etc) and I will add the sites manually for you (saving you time adding each one through...

Domaining.in and 9ug.com recommended by SEOMoz

Posted by Simon in Directories

Recently SEOMoz published a list of the 400 top directories in different niches. I’m pleased to say that both domaining.in and 9ug Directory made the list. Domaining.in ranked in the top 15 of all general directories based on domain authority and MozRank. I think that you have to be a Pro member to view the entire list but I will also be adding to my list of strong directories once I get some more time.. Edit: Saw this interesting blog post about the value of submitting to directories and...

Buying links – spotting the cheaters..

Buying links – spotting the cheaters..

Posted by Simon in Directories

I came across an interesting article today about spotting sites that pay for links. This isn’t something that I’ve really given much though to before but as we all know this type of behavior is generally frowned upon by Google and can lead to penalties for your site. Presumably the search engines can spot linking anomalies and therefore buying large numbers can damage your site’s rankings and reputation. After reading the article I wanted to test the tool for myself and check...

Is it worth submitting to paid directories?

Is it worth submitting to paid directories?

Posted by Simon in Directories

So far I’ve only been comparing domaining.in against the other free web directories that I’ve recommended (see post on strong free directories and building a strong directory). Obviously there are a lot of paid web directories out there too, some of which that charge hundreds of dollars a year for a listing. You would think that given the reputation (and extortionate listing fees charged) that you would be getting something special for your money, something that us humble free...

Building a strong directory

Building a strong directory

Posted by Simon in Directories

Time for a hastily put together midweek post.. Previously I posted a short list of strong free directories (which will be expanded over the coming weeks and months). At the moment it’s incomplete but I’ve tried to piece together some quality directories that I believe are worth submitting to (unlike 99% of the junk that’s out there). Out of curiosity I decided to look at exactly how many backlinks each of the top five of these sites has. I’ve never really looked at how...

Strong directories

Strong directories

Posted by Simon in Directories

So I’ve been meaning for a while to try to compile a list of some of the stronger free directories around. This is a first attempt at putting a list together – it’s by no means anywhere near complete but is a start, I will be adding to this list over time and aim to compile a useful resource (eventually!) I will be ranking directories on metrics taken from the excellent Open Site Explorer tool at SEOMoz. I only want to list quality free directories that are worth spending the...

  • New degradome analysis tool – PAREsnip
PAREsnip is a new, freely available Java-based tool for analysis of plant miRNA targets utilising small RNA and degradome high-throughput sequencing data. Unlike other tools which search for targets of a subset of small RNAs (e.g. known miRNAs and ta-siRNAs) PAREsnip allows the user to search for target of every small RNA sequenced in a […]
  • Google Scholar “My Citations”
. For any scientists out there I highly recommend signing up for a Google Scholar account. The recent addition of “My Citations” is a really excellent tool for tracking which (and how many) papers cite your work along with metrics such as h-index. You can sign up for a free My Citations account. For those […]

  • October update
Just a quick update to say that things should now all be back to normal after the server move. I hope that all bugs have been ironed out (thanks to all that reported problems). We are still catching up with a huge backlog of free submissions – the waiting time could be up to 14 […]

  • Domaining.in has moved to a new server..
After lots of trouble with extremely high server loads on my previous dedicated server and Hostgator technical support not being able to resolve the issue after several weeks of trying (and failing) I decided to move to a new host. I’ve already spotted a few things that were not working correctly (and have had a […]

  • Server woes
Just a quick update, as you’ve probably realized we’ve been having some serious server problems this month and Hostgator have been unable to sort this mess out. As a result I will be switching to a new dedicated server through a different hosting company today and will hopefully have the site up and running again […]
